Our
Story
Welcome to The HocWalk blog!
What is the HocWalk?
The HocWalk is a unique 800+ mile walk from Hockering in Norfolk to Cape Wrath in Scotland.
Who is doing the HocWalk?
I am Felicity Meyer and I’m doing the walk with my husband, Richard Funnell.
Who are we?
I am a 55+ year old vascular surgeon and Rich is a 60 (!) year old pharmaceutical consultant and we live in Hockering.
When is the HocWalk?
The HocWalk starts on 10th July 2022 and should be finished (hopefully) by 30th September 2022.
Why a blog?
This blog was started for three reasons:
-
Everyone has asked us why we are doing this walk and I couldn’t give an adequate explanation. The initial background section of the blog is the best vindication I can provide.
-
Friends, family and colleagues have expressed an interest in following our progress.
-
I wanted to record this exciting chapter in our lives.
How does this blog work?
The blog is written chronologically and is in four parts:
-
Background - an introductory section explaining how the walk came about
-
Preparation - our preparation story
-
Blog diary - the actual walk itself
-
Extras - an additional documents section containing other supplementary information
The material within this blog is all mine, I am responsible for any errors or omissions and I apologise unreservedly for all of it.
